Communicating in writing

Why consider the design, structure, colour and punctuation of your written communications?

Because reading is really quite difficult for some of us. Especially when we are are busy and stressed.

People tend to recognise shapes and misteaks fiRst and also to avoid reading long paragraphs and sentences and words that they do not understand.

  • The design, structure, colour and punctuation of letters and emails makes them easier to read.
  • The brain is lazy and likes what it finds easy to read.

People tend to prefer:

  • Structure and separation of key issues
  • Reading – what they want
  • Simple check-lists
  • What they want first and explanations second
